JAKARTA (Antara): The United Development Party (PPP) has suggested that the alleged transfer of non-budgetary funds from the Marine Resources and Fisheries Ministry to political parties'' coffers in the run-up to the 2004 presidential polls be referred to the court to decide.
It is the court which will prove who will be guilty and not in the case so that there need not be a "war of statement" which will erode the people''s confidence in their leaders, PPP Secretary General Irgan Ch. Mahfiz said on Sunday.
"This war of statement will only strengthen the people''s perceptions that no institution and individual can provide a model and they will lose confidence in their figures and leaders," he said.
It would be better for political figures to refer the case to the court rather than to trade accusations over who have been involved in the misappropriation of the non-budgetary funds, he said
